I saw heaps of white-cheeked honeyeaters (Phylidonyris niger) as I walked around the heathland at Bundjalung National Park last weekend. If you look closely you may see a drop of yummy nectar on the tip of his beak. ⠀ ⠀ #birdwatching #birds #birdsofinstagram #bunjalungnationalpark #blackrocks
When I take people to see wildlife in their natural habitat, I quite often see the same individuals and in the same place. This is due to a few reasons. 1. Most animals are territorial 2. We are quite mindful not to disturb them. My approach is not to get too close, walk slowly, be quiet, hide behind trees where possible and to move away from them before they move away from us. This red necked wallaby (Macropus rufogriseus) I’ve been seeing in the same place for a few months. I’ve nicked named him Rocky. It was so hot yesterday we were particularly mindful and careful not to disturb him. #wallaby #wildlifesafari #caringforwildlife
A very Aussie scene, wallaby, gum tree and Australian windmill. These are all common sights in the Australian countryside. ⠀ ⠀ #australia #aussiescene
I did a recce run out to Bungawalbin National Park, yesterday, with some mates, to look for emus and kangaroos. We didn't find any but we did explore some cool creeks, lagoons, walks and some birds. On our way back I discovered one of our crew hadn't seen koalas in the wild. So I took them to one of my reliable populations closer to Lismore. Emus=0, kangaroos=0, koalas=6
I💚walking in our beautiful forests. On the Minyon Falls loop walk, you get to walk through the valley of the giants (as I call it), giant brush box, strangler fig. Some of the brush box are conjoined twins, two massive trucks growing from the same root. #minyonfalls #greatwalk #greatwalksofaustralia #trees #treesofinstagram
I 💚 birds. I saw this spectacled monarch (Symposiachrus trivirgatus) sitting on its nest in the rainforest the other day. ⠀ ⠀ #birds #birdsofinstagram⠀ ⠀
